Issue 1/2025

This issue of Addictology reaffirms the journal’s commitment to advancing science-backed knowledge and fostering dialogue between science, policy, and practice in the field of addiction.

Highlights include an in-depth examination of cognitive functioning and daily living abilities among individuals with prescription drug use disorders, and a clinical study protocol exploring adolescent kratom use and its healthcare implications in the Czech Republic. The issue also features an international initiative to develop a holistic and inclusive competency framework for the addiction workforce, reflecting the growing emphasis on professionalization and global collaboration. Finally, a comparative psychological analysis sheds light on how personality traits and perfectionism differ between only children and those with siblings, adding to our understanding of behavioural development.

These studies illustrate the diversity and dynamism of current addiction research, reinforcing Addictology’s mission to bridge disciplines and promote practical, human-centred approaches to substance use prevention and treatment.
