Abstract:

The presentation deliver about the establishment of the Global-Regional Collaboration in Drug Demand and Supply Reduction Programs. The 2025 World Drug Report figures paint a sobering picture of our reality. Methamphetamine seizures across East and Southeast Asia, reaching 236 tons in 2024, serves as a stark reminder that we are facing an evolving and increasingly sophisticated enemy. The regional drug syndicates, including transnational organized crime operate in Indonesia.

Indonesia faces the emerging threats i.e. online transactions, cryptocurrency, and drug courier recruitment. The use of maritime routes and that digital platforms present unprecedented regional stability and security challenges. As an archipelagic nation strategically positioned along major trafficking routes, Indonesia bears the full brunt of these transnational criminal activities. In countering those drug problem, Indonesia implements balance approach between demand and supply reduction along with international cooperation.

The collaboration have been organized both in demand and supply reduction such as the strategy of evidence-based prevention, UPC, UTC, Border management program, etc. We will continue strengthening our domestic capabilities while deepening our partnerships with UNODC, The DAP Colombo Plan, ASEAN Member States, and the broader international community. Together, we can disrupt these criminal networks, protect our communities, and secure a safer future for our children.
