
Dr. Sanjeewani Senevirathne is a psychological counselor, lecturer, addiction treatment specialist, and community corrections officer at the Ministry of Justice, Sri Lanka. A Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow 2023–2024 (USA), she has over 13 years of experience in counseling, substance use rehabilitation, and community-based correctional services.
She has provided evidence-based clinical interventions—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI)—to more than 1,500 clients. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor's in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She has also received advanced training from Virginia Commonwealth University and King’s College London.
Dr. Senevirathne is also a lecturer in counseling psychology and correctional methods, a motivational speaker, and a published author, actively raising public awareness on addiction and mental health through education, research, and writing.
