Hello members in Dubai, my name is Dulce Maria Valencia Vega from Jalisco, Mexico. I wil be visiting Dubai in next October and wonder  to meet and join with ISSUP members from the area during my stay, Im very intersted in learn from you and of course if its good for you , to share my experiencie of 25 yearse in rehab and public policies in Mexico. BACKGROUND: Substance use disorders (SUDs) are associated with high rates of comorbid depression. Finding effective treatments for many of the substances of abuse is still an area of developing research. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an established treatment for depression, but its effects in SUDs are less conclusive. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the effect of rTMS in patients with SUDs and comorbid major depressive disorder (MDD).

BACKGROUND: Suicide is considered a severe global phenomenon as near to 700,000 people die annually as a result of suicidal behaviours. Suicide is a major public health problem among patients with a substance use disorder.

AIM: To determine the prevalence of suicidal ideation/behaviours and to investigate the factors associated with this problem among a selected sample of patients with a substance use disorder (SUD) in a specialised centre for treatment and rehabilitation for addiction in Dubai.
