A Monitoring Coordinator is required to join the Tobacco Tactics team within the Tobacco Control Research Group (TCRG). 

TobaccoTactics.org is a unique academic resource that summarises research and monitoring findings on the tobacco industry and its allies in an evidence-based and user-friendly format. It is used globally by politicians, civil servants, journalists and advocates. 

About the role

You will co-ordinate, under the direction of the Managing Editor, global and regional monitoring of the tobacco industry, its allies and fronts groups, specifically by ensuring external partners and sources are utilised. 

Working with the Managing Editor, and deputy editor you will identify emerging trends, share your findings with the TCRG, and co-ordinate how they are to be monitored. Working with other external partners and identify new external connections as well as maintain and develop links within the TCRG.

You will write, edit, and update existing content as well as research and develop new profiles for the TobaccoTactics website.

You will be required to brief project partners and external stakeholders, including conducting media interviews, about the work of Tobacco Tactics under the direction of the Managing Editor and in liaison with the Marketing & Communications Lead. That includes the production of a variety of materials for a range of audiences, such as regular webinars/podcasts. 

This role is offered on full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.

The successful candidate will contribute to three tasks. First, assist with study set up including submission of regulatory documents Second, coordinate and lead on data collection which will include both quantitative and qualitative data. The latter will be collected using semi-structured interviews with service users, AAOT staff and key leaders involved in AAOT in Greater Manchester and potentially nationally. The focus will be on evaluating characteristics and predictors of treatment outcomes. Thirdly, undertaking the analysis and publication of the study findings.

Main duties of the job

The role will be based in Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust in close collaboration with Prof. Karina Lovell at the University of Manchester. It will also include close working with the Lead NIHR MHIN study team based at the Alcohol Research Group, Addiction's Department King's College London and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester.

There will also be close working with 3rd sector organisations and other local NHS Trusts.

The successful candidate will gain experience working as part of a major national consortium and acquire a range of research and transferable skills including supervision of junior colleagues. They will contribute to the writing and publication of high-quality papers in peer-reviewed literature and will benefit from mentoring, training, and support to enable them to progress to the next stage of their career.

There is an exciting secondment/fixed term opportunity to Join the well established Addictions Care Team as Senior Addictions Clinical Coordinator for the Addiction Clinical Care Suite (ACCS).

The ACCS admits patients requiring medically assisted withdrawal / stabilisation from drugs and / or alcohol. This is a 7 day/24hr service and the work will involve shift pattern of days and nights.

This role has been developed to ensure the smooth co-ordination of care delivered to patients admitted to the pathway and ensure that they are supported throughout their journey with appropriate input from key stakeholders.

The role of senior clinical coordinator is open to registered Nurses (RGN/RMN) or registered Allied Health Professionals with a strong background/interest in Addictions, homeless health and mental health care delivery. The clinical coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of evidence based care and the effective, efficient flow of the pathway.

The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership within the clinical area and provide direction, and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi-disciplinary team working with the ACCS. The post holder will also be involved in the development of protocols / guidelines and patient information.

Applications are invited for a talented and ambitious researcher, with mixed-methods skills and implementation science expertise, to support and develop an ongoing programme of research focused on improving health and social care systems to better support people with co-occurring substance use, mental and physical ill-health, led by Professor Amy O'Donnell at the Population Health Sciences Institute, Newcastle University. 

The current research programme includes several National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded studies: NIHR ‘ADEPT' study, which examines the potential for using digital technology to improve coordinated care for co-morbid alcohol use disorder and depression; NIHR Health and Social Care Delivery Research-funded Alcohol Care Teams Evaluation; NIHR Three Schools Evaluation of the North East Alcohol Recovery Navigator Scheme; and NIHR ARC Evaluation of the Wakefield Mental Health Navigator Scheme.

You will be an integral member of the research team, leading the development, delivery, and dissemination of implementation-science-focused components of the above studies, providing mixed-methods methodological support and advice to other members, assisting where needed with data collection and analysis, and working closely with Professor O'Donnell to develop applications for external funding in this field, including conducting relevant evidence syntheses and public and patient engagement activities.

The Millennium Nucleus for the Evaluation and Analysis of Drug Policies (nDP)(www.nucleondp.cl) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher interested in the core research area of the Center: drug policy analysis and evaluation.nDPis a research Nucleusfunded by the Millennium Science Initiative (iniciativamilenio.cl)of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID). Our goal is to generate evidence on the design, decision-making, and implementation of drug policies and their impact on social, economic and population health. We expect to contribute to the drug policy debate in Chile and Latin America. To do this, we conduct comprehensive multimethod analyses and empirical evaluations of drug policies and policy initiatives. The nDP research areas are as follows:

1. National and international drug policies

2. Epidemiology and evaluation

3. Public opinion and policy process

The postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary team of PIs with a long-term career studying substance use and drug policy from multiple disciplines and using different methodological approaches. Our team has a strong background in public health, epidemiology, social sciences, economics, laws, and research methods, among other disciplines and research areas. The four hosting institutions of nDP are Universidad Mayor, Universidad de La Frontera, Universidad de Valparaíso, and Universidad AdolfoIbáñez.

Qualifications: We seek candidates with experience and expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis. Preference will be given to profiles with interdisciplinary backgrounds. Applicants must have been awarded a PhD(public health, epidemiology, social sciences, economics, or related fields)and have demonstrable skills in academic writing and communication in English.

Expected results: Postdoctoral fellows are expected to publish scientific articles and to support and collaborate with nDP members in research activities and funding applications. The MH&AOD Hub Coordinator works to support the function of the multi-disciplinary Hub team to provide timely intervention to consumers who present to the SVHM ED. Interventions will include (but are not limited to) mental health assessment, drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial assessment, review of current treatment and investigations as determined by assessment, planning of care after discharge from ED and assertive community follow up if required.

The Hub Coordinator will work closely with the Emergency Department senior clinical leaders, MH and Addiction teams to guide and lead the Hub clinicians in delivering quality and timely outcomes for consumers.

The Hub Coordinator will report operationally directly to the ED Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) ED and work closely with the senior leadership team in ED to maintain consistent evidence based practice clinical standards in response to MH&AOD presentations to the ED.

  • Coordinate a multidisciplinary response to people presenting to the SVHM ED with mental health and AOD problems.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Hub multi-disciplinary staff members and actively contribute to clinical practice within mental health and AOD service as a senior staff member.
  • Act as a resource person and role model to all multidisciplinary staff and promote excellent morale and a positive attitude to change within the MH&AOD Hub environment.

Aarhus BSS Graduate School, Aarhus University invites applicants for a PhD Scholarship in connection with the research project ‘Intoxicated Adolescent Relations’ at the PhD Programme Social Science and Business.

The PhD position is connected to the Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research, Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences at Aarhus University and is in the field of Intoxication, Gender and Digital sexualities among adolescents in Denmark. The PhD position offers the opportunity to take part in an international and engaging research environment as the position forms part of a larger research project called ‘Intoxicated Adolescent Relations’ headed by Associate Professor Margit Anne Petersen and funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark (Sapere Aude).

Included in the PhD position is one semester’s research stay at the University of Edinburgh, UK, as well as co-supervision by Professor Angus Bancroft, who is part of the collaborative team along with three other internationally renowned scholars: Professor Geoffrey Hunt, Associate Professor Alexandra Bogren and Senior Researcher Marianne Cense
