JOB PURPOSE:

The Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) runs individual, family, and group counseling for patients in substance use disorder programs. The SUDP acts as mediator between patients, relatives, medical staff, and outside agencies if needed. They continuously monitor and track patient progress and dispensation of treatment services.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Include equipment knowledge/use)

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

The focus of this job is to monitor the implementation of the Single Convention on Narcotics Drugs, 1961, to limit the cultivation of narcotic plants and the production, manufacture and use of narcotic drugs to medical and scientific purposes, to ensure their availability for such purposes and to prevent diversion of narcotic drugs into the illicit traffic.

This post will be based within the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group at the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York.  The group, in collaboration with the Tobacco and Alcohol Group at University College London, has recently been awarded a large research grant in the area of tobacco smoking and mental illness (ESCAPE).

The overall aim of the programme is to assess the feasibility, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of electronic cigarettes for smoking cessation and reduction in people with mental illness. It will include a randomised controlled feasibility study, followed by a fully powered randomised controlled trial. The study population will consist of people who live in the community and are receiving care for their mental health condition under the care of NHS mental health trusts.

The Centre for Population Health Sciences at the Usher Institute, within The University of Edinburgh, is looking for a Research Assistant to work on a Chief Scientist Office, Scottish Government, funded study called DASHES (Drug and Alcohol Service users Help to Exit Smoking). In collaboration with service users, this exciting 24 month study will develop and test delivery of a tailored service specifically for people seeking help for problematic drug or alcohol use, and who may also want to reduce or stop their tobacco smoking.

The Opportunity:

Working with a highly experienced team of academics, practitioners and people with lived experience of drug and alcohol addiction, the successful candidate with will gain applied experience in the designed and evaluation of a complex health behaviour change intervention. Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Co-Investigators and Director, this position provides recruitment, enrolment, and data collection support with the ongoing implementation of randomised control trials to test behavioural interventions targeting HIV prevention and treatment; sexual and gender minority health; and substance use.

Additionally, the position provides ongoing care coordination, counselling, and supported referrals to HIV-negative men who engage in sex work and are eligible to use PrEP for HIV prevention. The person in this position will work to empower participants to make decisions for their own health and help reduce barriers to PrEP uptake and adherence as part of a research study.

Typical duties include: Implementing recruitment and retention efforts that lead to study participation. Arranging and conducting studying visits with participants; Coordinating with other community partner recruitment sites; Maintaining regulatory procedures and assisting in development of study materials. Providing supported referrals to PrEP and other services as needed by participants.

General Description
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the general day to day activities and organisation of the coalition and its work on the Drug Free Communities (DFC) objectives. The coordinator will be responsible for assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with the DFC priorities. The Coordinator will guide the coalition to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long-term involvement of community institutions, organisations, and individuals in reducing youth, young adults, and adult substance abuse in Norwich CT. Bright Heart Health is experiencing an increased demand for the telemedicine services, and we are vetting licensed therapists and certified substance abuse counselors across the country to help us meet this need. Counselors (CADC II, CADC III, CASAC II, LCDC, LICDC, LDAC, etc.) who are fully certified in one or more of the following states:

• California
• Washington
• Illinois
• Tennessee

A minimum of one year experience working with an adult clientele living with substance abuse and/or mental illness is required. Proficiency in delivering services within a virtual space and a high acuity in working with a broad spectrum of telecommunications and EMR software is necessary. Counselors with certification in other states and/or credentialed with interstate, international reciprocity will be considered as well.

Background of the Colombo Plan Gender Affairs Programme:

In May 2014, in an effort to provide support to vulnerable and marginalized women, men, girls and boys and promote a just and equitable society in collaboration with member governments and other stakeholders, the Colombo Plan Council approved the establishment of the Gender Affairs Programme (CPGAP). Accordingly, the CPGAP focuses solely on women and children’s rights, issues, and development in Colombo Plan member countries. The CPGAP has two flagship projects in Afghanistan that are implemented through six local partner organizations.

Purpose: The Project Manager will be based in Colombo, Sri Lanka and responsible for the management of CPGAP’s biggest project-based in Afghanistan focused on the protection and access to justice of survivors of gender-based violence and trafficking in persons.

The Project Manager will work under the direct supervision of the CPGAP Deputy Director and overall guidance of the Director CPGAP to ensure the successful implementation of project-related. He/she will manage the programme officers and facilitate in the coordination of staff and implementing partner organizations. The Project Manager will represent and uphold the vision, mission and values of the Colombo Plan while engaging with the donor, stakeholders and implementing partners in Afghanistan and Washington D.C.

The Clinical Addictions Research Laboratory (CARL), under the supervision of its Director, Andrea C. King, Ph.D., conducts human laboratory studies of responses to substances, smartphone-based studies of substance use in the natural environment, and clinical trials research mainly focused on disadvantaged and medically-compromised smokers.

The research assistant will provide support in all areas of clinical investigation, including but not limited to: participant recruitment, interviewing and screening; conducting experimental sessions, database management, and follow-up assessments; providing administrative and infrastructure support in literature reviews, equipment calibration and maintenance, and organizing and filing records and study materials. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), communication skills, reliability, and detail-oriented work are necessary.

Prior experience in human subjects testing, database and graphical packages, and statistics are desired.
