The Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for providing outpatient treatment and supportive services for chemically dependent individuals and their families in our new San Bruno Outpatient Facility. Our program is Drug Medi-Cal certified and DHCS State-licensed.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Facilitate individual, family and peer group sessions. Preferably with a strong background in group-dynamics
• Participate in clinical consultations, professional collaboration, and case management meetings to insure clients’ compliance to policies.
• Conduct individualized guidance sessions with clients to monitor progress in their recovery plan.
• Complete psychosocial assessment and intake of client to determine appropriate treatment and develop program for individualized guided sessions.
• Submit report and required paperwork (CADDS, database forms, contract reports etc.) in accordance with established timelines.
• Conduct or coordinate educational and training workshop for participants
• Participate in educational, training and outreach activities as assigned.
• Attend staff meetings and assist student interns as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• A minimum two year’s experience in the substance abuse field in a capacity of counselor or equivalent position.
• Completed CAADE, CADTP, CCAPP; or enrolled in AOD Classes working towards AOD Certification.
• If in recovery a minimum of three years documented and continuous sobriety.
• Bilingual and bicultural with the ability to speak Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities:

The focus of this position is to support the Representative to oversee Project Managers managing and implementing UNODC projects in the region. The Programme Coordinator will provide substantive, technical, programmatic, and administrative advice to the Representative and the Project Managers with direct oversight on administration, financial management, procurement, human resources, logistics, travel and information technologies in compliance with United Nations rules.

The Secretariat of INCB is an administrative entity of UNODC reporting directly to the Board on substantive matters. The focus of this job is to monitor the implementation of the Single Convention on Narcotics Drugs, 1961, to limit the cultivation of narcotic plants and the production, manufacture and use of narcotic drugs to medical and scientific purposes, to ensure their availability for such purposes and to prevent diversion of narcotic drugs into the illicit traffic.

This post will be based within the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group at the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York.  The group, in collaboration with the Tobacco and Alcohol Group at University College London, has recently been awarded a large research grant in the area of tobacco smoking and mental illness (ESCAPE).

The overall aim of the programme is to assess the feasibility, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of electronic cigarettes for smoking cessation and reduction in people with mental illness. It will include a randomised controlled feasibility study, followed by a fully powered randomised controlled trial. The study population will consist of people who live in the community and are receiving care for their mental health condition under the care of NHS mental health trusts.

The Centre for Population Health Sciences at the Usher Institute, within The University of Edinburgh, is looking for a Research Assistant to work on a Chief Scientist Office, Scottish Government, funded study called DASHES (Drug and Alcohol Service users Help to Exit Smoking). In collaboration with service users, this exciting 24 month study will develop and test delivery of a tailored service specifically for people seeking help for problematic drug or alcohol use, and who may also want to reduce or stop their tobacco smoking.

The Opportunity:

Working with a highly experienced team of academics, practitioners and people with lived experience of drug and alcohol addiction, the successful candidate with will gain applied experience in the designed and evaluation of a complex health behaviour change intervention. Responsibilities

• Obtaining and preparing patient histories and performing physical examinations

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Co-Investigators and Director, this position provides recruitment, enrolment, and data collection support with the ongoing implementation of randomised control trials to test behavioural interventions targeting HIV prevention and treatment; sexual and gender minority health; and substance use.

Additionally, the position provides ongoing care coordination, counselling, and supported referrals to HIV-negative men who engage in sex work and are eligible to use PrEP for HIV prevention. The person in this position will work to empower participants to make decisions for their own health and help reduce barriers to PrEP uptake and adherence as part of a research study.

Typical duties include: Implementing recruitment and retention efforts that lead to study participation. Arranging and conducting studying visits with participants; Coordinating with other community partner recruitment sites; Maintaining regulatory procedures and assisting in development of study materials. Providing supported referrals to PrEP and other services as needed by participants.

Additional duties include: Assisting with grant writing and study progress reports as needed; Maintaining current knowledge of relative research by reading medical journals, articles and other related publications; Attending conferences, seminars, forums, trainings and other presentations pertinent to the field.

General Description
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the general day to day activities and organisation of the coalition and its work on the Drug Free Communities (DFC) objectives. The coordinator will be responsible for assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with the DFC priorities. Background of the Colombo Plan Gender Affairs Programme:

In May 2014, in an effort to provide support to vulnerable and marginalized women, men, girls and boys and promote a just and equitable society in collaboration with member governments and other stakeholders, the Colombo Plan Council approved the establishment of the Gender Affairs Programme (CPGAP). The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine is advertising a Research Associate position, working in the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research.   

This project offers a unique opportunity to train the police and homeless service staff in how to engage people in a conversation about their drinking, to deliver brief alcohol interventions and to provide effective referrals into services that can provide support. The Blue Light project was developed by Alcohol Change UK, as an approach for working with problem drinkers who are not in contact with alcohol treatment services. As part of this study, the Blue Light training package will be tailored for a non-healthcare context.

As the researcher running this project you will: 

• Lead co-production activities to tailor the Blue Light training, 
• Organise the delivery of the Blue Light training sessions across the police and homeless services in Liverpool,
• Deliver a feasibility study to evaluate this intervention, 
• Conduct interviews with police officers and homeless service staff to understand how it has affected their attitudes, perceptions of stigma around alcohol use and working practices.

Project Title: Understanding overdose risk perception amongst those who use heroin and other drugs.

This PhD project investigates the perception and management of risk for those who use multiple drugs on occasion (polydrug use).

This PhD project aims to understand the lived experience of managing polydrug overdose risk though the lens of those who use drugs. The PhD researcher will be supervised by Dr Gillian Shorter and Dr Anne Campbell (Queen’s University Belfast), but will benefit from the mentorship, support, contacts, and interactions with the wider Drug and Alcohol Research Network. This research will directly feed into priorities to reduce drug-related deaths in Northern Ireland and wider afield, linking to Department of Health and Drug-Related Deaths Taskforce research needs. There will be the opportunity to present to these and other bodies on the findings of the research to support policy change and improved understanding. 

The Unit wishes to recruit a Stop Smoking Practitioner to provide the day-to-day specialist tobacco cessation support to the residents of Waltham Forest.

The post holders will join a team of comprising Researchers, Stop Smoking Advisors, Clinicians and support staff. 

Key duties of the role include:

• To provide intensive support for smokers and tobacco users using Pharmacotherapies and behavioural support to targeted segments of the population (as stated in the service specification) who have complex needs i.e. COPD, MH/SMI and pregnancy. 
• Maintaining motivation of clients during times of emotional distress.
